    Mathilde Looman is a PhD candidate at the Clinical Psychology department of the University of Amsterdam. As a psychologist, she is dedicated to bridging research and clinical practice. She began her PhD in 2022 after working in mental health care following her Master’s in Psychology Research and Health Care Psychology. Her research focuses on treatments for insomnia, specifically examining the effectiveness and mechanisms of Sleep Restriction Therapy (SRT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Insomnia (ACT-I). As part of her academic role, she works as a therapist in clinical treatment studies.

    Current research projects

    • SRT: We aim to test the efficacy of sleep restriction therapy in a scalable telephone-guided format and explore SRT’s mechanisms using network intervention analysis.
    • ACT-I: We aim to help expand insomnia’s treatment options by developing and testing a Dutch five-session individual treatment protocol based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
