Background
After completing my studies in Dutch Law, I worked for an international financial institution for several years. A study in Communication Science, started out of interest, resulted in a PhD on the communicative behavior of leaders at the Department of Work and Organizational Psychology at the VU. After my PhD in 2012, I started teaching Work and Organizational Psychology (WOP) at the UvA. There I set up, coordinated and/or taught various courses in the undergraduate and graduate program. In this role, I have found that I enjoy thinking about how people learn and how they might be stimulated and supported in doing so. Since the foundation for lifelong learning is laid in childhood, I decided to find out more about elementary education. In 2022, in addition to working as a UvA lecturer, I started the two-year Educational Master's in Primary Education. After completing this, I work two days a week as an elementary education teacher and two days a week at UvA.
Activities
At the VU and at the UvA, I have supervised various undergraduate and master's theses, mostly in the areas of communicative behavior of leaders and employee well-being. At UvA, I taught several courses in the undergraduate program of Work and Organizational Psychology: Orientation on the Work Field, Work, Health & Work Stress, Leadership, and Organizational Structure & Culture. In addition, in the undergraduate program I have been involved in the courses Motivation & Work Behavior and Recruitment, Selection & Work performance. I am (co-)coordinator of the Human Resource & Career Management master's track and teach the Career Management course in that track. Earlier years, I also taught the master's course Coaching. Furthermore, I am one of the two master's internship coordinators of A&O and supervise internships.
