My research focuses on the treatment of childhood-related posttraumatic stress disorder (Ch-PTSD). In particular with EMDR and Imagery Rescriting (ImRs). I am currently the central research assistant for a large multicentre international RCT comparing these two treatments.
In addition, I am also interested in studying and disentangling the treatment mechanisms of ImRs and EMDR, and also more general change mechanisms during treatment (e.g., non-fear emotions). Moreover, I also study the differential relationships between different types of childhood trauma (CT) and PTSD but also more general psychopathology and treatment outcomes. I am also interested in the mechanisms that can explain these relationships.
In the future, I hope to continue to study these (and related) research questions. I am also planning on combining research with work in clinical practice as I belief this combination is important for both aspects of our field. I am also a member of an international ImRs consortium. In addition to my research and ambitions to pursue clinical work, I also teach courses on personality disorders and trauma.
