Science and technology are typical features of our modern society. I try to understand - using the brain as a starting point - how these eminently human activities throughout history have influenced the way we live and try to understand ourselves.
I studied Psychology (1998) and Science and Technology Studies (2003) at the University of Amsterdam. I obtained my PhD in medical history (2023) from Utrecht University. Since 1998 I have taught psychology, social sciences and psychobiology at various universities. I currently coordinate the Honours Programme Psychology at the University of Amsterdam, lecture on climate and psychology, and conduct research on the history of psychiatry and brain sciences.
