I'm currently a Research Associate at the Department of Psychology, University of Amsterdam. I examine belief systems that have adverse societal consequences, with a focus on misperceptions of science (science scepticism) and social groups (stereotypes).
Research interests
Overall, I am interested in how thoughts about physical space underpin misperceptions of science and social groups.
My main collaborations involve Dr. Bastiaan Rutjens (UvA), Dr. Paul Hanel (University of Essex, UK), prof. Geoffrey Haddock, Dr. Ulrich von Hecker, and Dr. Travis Proulx (Cardiff University, UK).
Before joining the UvA, I was a Research Associate at the University of Birmingham, UK. I worked on a multidisciplinary research project designed to understand people’s perceptions of the relationship between evolutionary science and religion cross-culturally.
Previously, I was a PhD researcher at Cardiff University, UK. I examined how stereotypes about gender interacted with spatial cues to support decision-making about social power. I was supervised by Dr. Ulrich von Hecker and Prof. Geoff Haddock.
